Which is the best 17 inch lcd monitor to buy?
I want to buy 17 inch lcd moniter but I found difficult to select form
various models that are avilable in market so please suggst me a good model of lcd monitor my budget is 15000/- I live in mumbai I want to use it specially for gaming & multimedia.
There is not much to choose between many of them. Look at the specifications. The refresh rate is shown in milliseconds and a good one would be less than 12ms (8ms is better). The Contrast rate is also shown as a ratio. 300:1, 400:1. Choose one with a high ratio 600:1. Decide also if you want speakers, many do not have the inbuilt speakers any more.
Like all electronic equipment, you get good ones and bad ones. Buy what you can afford, but buy what you need. Don’t be drawn by brand names, they only add to the price! and they are normally made in the same factory as unbranded models.

Philips made good monitors. Using an old model about 2 years ago: 170B5CS. No defective pixel so far.

You are defiantly looking for anything with a 4ms or 8ms response time. Good brands are BenQ, LG or Sony. Other than that just make sure your graphic card can handle it as well.

If you look down the right hand side it lists the best selling monitors of this size which is a good guidline.
The lower the response time the better the quality of the monitor, response times go as low as '2ms' now, it will say in the computer description what response time it has. If you have the money then go for 2ms.
If i were you i would cash out a little more and get this 19" monitor, looks really nice and performs amazing:

For my $$, you can't beat the dell ultrasharp series. Not the analog flat panel, but the ultrasharp. I have three and love them. Only better monitor is the Apple Studio Display, but there's no 17" anymore.
